Take the grinder to the pickup casing instead? Thanks for the suggestion. I considered that but the neck pickup is just tall whether it's the screws or the 3 leads from the bottom. I'd have had to grind the center with Dremel tool even if I got shorter screws. All's good with the CS Nocasters back in the guitar, and my trip to Dave's yesterday confirmed we'll not see those Thin Skins again unless Fender changes their policy. Dave said the "Thin Skin" dealers now have to order 100 vs 25 each of the special run guitars which is too much for large dealers like them. It was fun to check out the remaining Thin Skins where the bright colored Jaguars stood out. It was a great day - not good for skiing so the 5 hours of driving time was tolerated for 5 more hours at that great place. Keeping this guitar classic Telecaster tone also makes sense because it complements my new guitar which is 4 knob humbucker type. Thanks again.
