There's a rather fierce competition between the private schools for students, so I don't think something like that could ever happen. It would be like having a company picnic with Apple and Microsoft or Toyota and Ford.

Going to sign the contract for the new job on Monday of the coming week. In the end, I'll be literally tripling my salary over my previous job, and my new job includes benefits that didn't exist in my previous job, like the fact that I'll have health insurance through the company rather than out of pocket, have a 50% discount on Apple products, including a sponsored ADC (Apple Developer Connection) membership, which is great for me because it gives me access to beta software, etc. and a 50% scholarship to further my own studies as well as a 100% scholarship for any future dependents to attend the school, which includes everything, including uniforms, field trips, and even school lunches.
Can't beat it.
I'm thinking about enrolling in another degree program here, with the goal of working toward my doctorate in education and starting my own school, or possibly working at the state university. All the coursework is in Spanish, so it's going to be a real challenge.
Things are looking up, overall, and it's scary at the same time, as any risk or change is prone to be, but I'm glad I didn't stay where I was, despite the fact that I miss my former students who were some genuinely lovely people in every way.

All sounds like good news. Maybe one day you will teach the children of the students you now miss.

Classes start on Thursday for the new job. It's a real kick-ass job in every way. The class sizes are smaller than anything I've ever experienced and the tech is ubiquitous. We are literally writing our own curriculum under the International Baccalaureate framework, which is a very demanding task for everyone involved. Met some of the new families in the school today in a sort of open house for the new students and it looks like we are off to a good start. One family came from my old school. It was good to see a familiar face or two.
Had some shipping delays on some of the equipment, but things are really moving fast in every other way. Much of our senior leadership is from the UK and we have folks from Ireland, England and Scotland The headmaster is from South Africa. It's a blast. My immediate supervisor is a brilliant guy who sort of reminds me of a soccer hooligan.
