Those guys seem to die young. Some do, but as I mentioned, I joked about The Strolling Bones (Rolling Stones) who look like death, but manage to go on, somehow. Pact with the devil? You're thinking of Robert Johnson. Well, so far only the road manager has died. I they make 80, you might have a point. Perhaps they stay grounded and know how to breathe.

Four most important changes?
Dumped religion from my life after being immersed in it from birth until I was old enough to leave home.
Followed my heart and didn't attend college the Fall after high school graduation, continuing to play music instead.
Stopped drinking & lived through it.
Returned to college as a sober adult to pursue education that I wanted.

I always enjoy when a member self validates themselves with their academic endeavors. Are you still addicted to alcohol?

Presumably... I know enough not to try & see.
You are such a pin-head. I was not "self validating"; merely contradicting your incorrectly assumed "under educated" comment.

Jeez, sorry about your welcome here. Surviving addiction is a challenge, and although I am not an addict, I have known plenty of survivors. I also work for a company that employs many folks in recovery whose job it is to support others recently out of rehab. So, all I can say is that anyone who gives another person shit for being successful in their recovery is nothing but an ignorant fool. Now, if you had said you found God during recovery, that same person likely would have applauded your sobriety. Welcome to the Wharf!

Thanks Tod. Yeah, the "are you still addicted" question was informative as to the depth of ignorance displayed by a certain person. Once a human body goes through the chemical changes resulting in the addiction, in the minds of most scholars of the subject - it doesn't disappear. Doesn't matter if you claim god got you sober, or AA got you sober, or meditating on a little spec of bird shit on the fence post got you sober. If you were truly addicted & decide 20 years later it's time for a drink - in short order you will be right back where you started. I know; my best friend who was instrumental in my sobriety, started drinking again after about 18 years of sobriety. He died a couple years ago.

Right on Dave! Once an addict gains recovery they cannot got back to social or casual drinking or drug use or soon they will be back into the addiction.
