STUNNING, Glen!! Is that a TIARA I see inlaid there? A new "Green Mountain Signature" in the works, to go with the mountains?? (I know someone, once she gets up to go to school this a.m. is going to like THAT!! ) Meanwhile, what a great guitar. How was working with cocobolo? I know more than one builder who finds it allergen-producing, or frustrating because of the nick-name: "crackobolo!" Personally, I think it is among the most gorgeous, deeply hued and grained rosewood genuses (geni? Genny??) out there. So, you wrangled a pretty hinky wood, I'd say. Simply gorgeous. Love the detail--the heel cap at the body (maple??); the rosette, the bindings and the wedge is nicely executed. Purdy as anything Kevin Ryan's put forth, I'd say. And I love the sound-port design! So--who is this John Bryan lucky dog who commissioned this, eh?? Give me his address, so I can kidnap him and that guitar. Got the Adi going too. All in all, this has about everything and anything a player could want. Seems to have a very robust tone about her, and LOUD!!!! Wait until that Adi opens up. Geez--I'd like to see this in person, but I doubt I will. We here on The Wharf are privileged to get a first peek at this. Thanks!

Wow! *has no idea what she's looking at* *wonders if John Bryan is Glen's dog...* That's very pretty! ;D (I imagine the tiara is a much bigger pain in the ass to make than the crown is...) Do you invite women in to see your clamp collection?

Again, Glen-simply a stunning piece of Luthery! How are your fellow builders reacting on the luthiers' forum? I would think with high praise! As I said, beyond the excellent wood-choices, the features seem to incorporate the guitar world's more recent innovations, which are becoming increasingly accepted and popular as players commission guitar builds. I also really appreciate the understated elegance of the instrument-the bindings, the crown, the rosette and soft cutaway. It just exudes "class"-and sounds wonderful.
Keep up the great work! The new owner is really blessed. ;D (I just keep scrolling through the pix-awesome!)

Bending it is a little challenging. It's like trying to bend a piece of glass with tar in it. Once it gets hot, the tar oozes out of it and makes a mess. It sands off. It just looks a little bad when it first happens. ;D The heel cap is flamed maple. That is a blurry pic of it. John is a banjo player for a Bluegrass band. And he has been winning flatpicking competitions on guitar. Hopefully he will be winning some with this one. ;D Glen

Just takes a little bit longer. Of course you can make them while you are waiting for glue to dry so, no need to be in a big hurry anyway. ;D I don't show to many women my clamp collection. They make great cloths pins. ;D Glen

Awwwww....you're so practical!
(Even if it takes a little longer---I love the tiara! It looks delicate and artsy.)

Geezums! ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNAluR0c-AsGlen Yeah. Well, I was never deluded to think of myself as a "great" anything on guitar or banjo, although I have some innate talents rhythmically, and in "psyching" out chord patterns on tunes pretty much by ear, blah blah. Cutting my musical teeth on the likes of a killer acoustic thumper like Bob Shane (of Kingston Trio founding fame) is something I picked up along the way. Trying to dupe Mr. David Guard on banjo though-well, that's another story. Ever see "Fretkiller" in action, Glen. Simply put, don't unless you have a strong stomach for slack-jaw reaction. You can search him on YouTube. He's prolific. Here's a little sample: (YIKES ) www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h67Vsb6Ndc&feature=related (A "close up" view of some fine flatpickin'!!)
