I dislike wearing hats but have no choice but to protect my head when in the sun. Incidentally, I'll never understand why folks wear hats indoors. I was taught it was bad manners. I go in and out a lot throughout the day and have gotten in the habit of just wearing my hat all the time. It seems pretty normal for people to wear hats inside, especially baseball hats. I usually take it off if I'm eating at a table, but that's about the only time I ever feel obligated.

I usually take it off if I'm eating at a table, but that's about the only time I ever feel obligated. Hat etiquette is a forgotten skill., but then I do not consider a cap a hat. Like other skills it learned.
