That's good, and I hope you help educate others. I've been surprised how some don't realize where we can do a lot with simple changes. Now for me it's on to what color phone, and jokes with friends about camping out at an Apple store. If I had a surprise it was no NFC, but I also know there is more to be sorted out with mobile payments. Battery life could be a surprise. A purchase or upgrade should work well for me. I sold my spare, need an international phone in the near future and I am sure I'll enjoy a better camera than I have now. BTW: I won't really be camping at the Apple store. Fine if pre-order works with my schedule tomorrow and no sweat otherwise unless of course I trash my 4 model with no spare. Now it's time to consider killing the land line and a mobile or two for that and for our kids.

Now it's time to consider killing the land line and a mobile or two for that and for our kids. When we moved to Austin 3.5 years ago, we stopped using a land line. We still have one, but wife just uses it for her work number since she's working at home now. It's also good to have for emergencies for elderly parents or kids to be able to have a phone for 911. When it was our 'home phone' number, I got fed up taking calls for her when she was at work and refused to answer it anymore and made sure that anyone who needed to call me had my cell phone. It has worked great to be mobile only. The new iPhone looks cool from a functionality standpoint, but nothing I can't live without until my next upgrade cycle in May. I actually don't like the all black look that I saw online but maybe it looks better in person. The way I look at these upgrade things is two ways. One is that if someone really wants a new iPhone every year, then no big deal. That's only $600 and we are all used to paying for upgraded computers, printers, etc. so in comparison it's not super expensive. Two is that there is always something better out there, so unless you've got a lot of spare money to stay up on everything (and some people do) and it matters to you for whatever reason, then having good stuff that isn't completely avant garde is still pretty darn good. I currently have a 2 year old iMac, a one year old Macbook Air and a one year old iPhone. They all work great, but of course could be a little better. I was wondering if they were going to roll out a new iMac because they might be tempting. Mine needs a new hard drive and I can't install Lion because it says I need a hard drive. That means I can't use iCloud, which was never that big of a deal until I started using my laptop for on-site client work. So, I need to take my iMac in and get that straightened out, which is a hassle and runs the risk of me not having my main computer for a day or two. I have also thought about getting a MacBook Pro and using a nice big monitor so my computer always has the same stuff on it no matter what. I'm hoping iCloud solves that issue if get the hard drive replaced and Lion installed and then my MacBook Air hopefully will match the iMac, so, that's my plan for now - get the hard drive and try iCloud for awhile.

Our school is heavily involved in global efforts and local initiatives for environmental causes, etc. and it's one of the thigs that drew me toward it, since I am also like-minded. One of our units of inquiry was about the use of disposable plastics, such as bags, etc. and even I was amazed by how serious the problem really is and how simple it would be for everyone to just use reusable shopping bags, for example. I'm seriously bothered by the disposable attitude, and I really wish that Apple would just adopt the USB standard that everyone else uses. I charge my wife and my Kingle and both our cell phones on the same plug, and I'm really looking at usign a solar panel to fill that need, since we have so much sun here normally. After I can determine the most cost-effective way to do it, I'll be working toward that goal.

We've kept the land line for reasons you mention. The one phone on the wall can't get lost, so I think it stays. I just talked with my local Apple Store "business team" and the woman who admits she likes 4 models in white says she's liking the black. I wish the alternative was black and all metal finish like the computers. Don't hesitate replacing a bad drive. Use your system utilities to know if you really need more power. If you have gen 2 Air consider the Thunderbolt display and storage. You can get the Thunderbolt display which also gives you a NIC and ports along with a RAID1 array for same price as 27 in iMac. On upgradeitis disease. For me I suppose it's like many who got a 4S - nice incremental upgrade or maybe better if you consider screen size and next generation chipsets (both the CPU and the communication set). I'll have to look into compatibility of my Apogee JAM and the differences with ports.

LOL!
Yeah, I meant to type something like "I charge my my wife's and my Kindle and both our phones on the same charger...."
Didn't quite come out like I intended.

Too late, my pre-order confirmation message is here. Now my fandroid and rare Win Phone friends can express their jealousy and disgust.
I don't have the excitement I should or many probably have because I don't know if I'll like a longer phone, black prone to scratches and wished the alternative was colored more like a Mac.
FYI: If you do the pre-order and have an old unlimited plan you have to change to a new plan first or go forward and get your plan changed prior to getting the phone or activating it.
I suppose a few features will be nice such as more storage and the camera but for the most part it's about getting a phone that will let me support all the features of v 6. I'll sell it and get a 4S if I can't stand the length.
My kids have some genuine excitement so I'm sure we'll have some fun too.

Just got a new MacBook Pro 13" (non-retina) yesterday and installed 16GB of RAM (still can't believe Apple ships them with 2x2GB installed) and a 256GB HD. It's been at least three years since I've owned a Mac after owning many of them over the last 20 years. There's really nothing like Apple's products. About the closest thing to it is the Asus MacBook Air style ultrabooks, but even their trackpad isn't as good. I can actually use the Mac without a mouse, which is a quite lovely thing after using mice of various kinds.
The surface does seem to ding and scratch really easily. Seems like the Aluminum is softer in some way, because I did put a very small ding in the lid just with the mag connector as it fell form one or two inches onto the lid!
Put a Speck cover on it. I do wish that I'd waited a bit for the Retina model, but I'll probably use this one for two years and then upgrade.

I do wish that I'd waited a bit for the Retina model, but I'll probably use this one for two years and then upgrade. Nice. Assuming put a SSD in it? Interesting coincidence in that I just got 3 and put one in the hands of an excited new employee last night. Didn't putting another drive in it make it more than just getting an Air 13? As far as scratches, I haven't noticed some models or vintages scratching more than others but it happens. Something on the kitchen counter did more to my Air than a year of mobile professional use. I rushed to get a Retina model twice but put on the brakes. First the big one is more than I want to carry all the time. My Air 13 is perfect there. I need 900 pixels top to bottom for ideal VMware admin and the Retina optimized is either not enough or leaves me with the text too small. Then comes not wanting to leave $3000+ of computer sitting around at work sites. The issue for me is needing space for a Windows 8 VM and video so I'm considering that new mini server and the not yet released iMac update. Add getting the Thunderbolt display and shared storage for what I have. The 3 laptops I just got have me wondering if the drives in the mini server will seem to slow. The MacBook Pro 13 should not seem slow but it does compared to the Air with SSD. Closer to topic, the phone update released yesterday stopped my wife's iPhone 4 from apps crashing and taking her to screen lock just as I was about to replace the phone. So far too early to tell what it did to my 5 model phone. I'm watching to see if the WiFi radio will work better.

Yeah, sorry. I didn't say. I installed a Samsung SSD from the 830 series. It was cheap from Newegg.com, and the firmware/controller combo is fantastic with Apple's hardware, even have trim enabled.
Love it so far.
