Man, that's nice. Don't tempt me! FWIW, Christmas came a little early to my house this year. My wife, sweet as she is, just allowed me to pick out my own Christmas gift, which was a CF Rainsong (second-hand from an AGF member) which I'd been wanting for some time now, because the humidity here is just totally destroying my Martin, otherwise, I'd be looking at this. I'm a huge fan of Dell's hardware and their Linux certified stuff is top-notch. Thanks for sharing! I'll put it on my radar.

I liked seeing that. I've wondered how good that track pad would be for Windows 8.
I use Linux and things derived from it server side but my mobile devices, Apple market share, APple licensing, and a few Windows apps will probably keep me using a Mac as my host OS.
Right now Windows 8 needs to be my source of fighting to make stuff (apps, peripherals) work if anything. A bold move is my best description for what Microsoft is doing.
Personal tech pleasure is just swapped iPad 2 for 4th gen. I was a good way to use Airline perks and now Kindle and newspaper apps are SO much better. I tried the latest Android, Surface and Kindle tablets first but Apple's platform has superior apps so I stuck with it.

I have the 2nd gen iPad also, and I've toyed with the idea of upgrading, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it to me. Do you really find it that much better, or did you just upgrade because you had the chance?
Dell's trackpad (usually Synaptics) are the closes thing to Apple in terms of quality and function I've seen in the PC market. I love Asus hardware also, but their trackpad drivers are abysmal.

Do you really find it that much better, or did you just upgrade because you had the chance? I'll say both. I can't read a lot with same comfort as Kindle e-ink on most screens. After having iPhones and setting up other "Retina" devices I saw text could be better. Add having airline perks to use up and an iPad 2 still current product and you get what took me over the edge. I looked at Mini iPad, Samsung and Nexus along with my work partner's Surface. Retina iPad and the Kindle HDs really looked best for reading but Kindle was limiting. GarageBand mobile with Apogee JAM, iMovie mobile and my accounting app put the Apple devices in a league above the others. Oh, also an opportunity to go to 32 GB. GarageBand, iMovie and a high def computer lesson app I have are several GB of storage. I can give you excuses to wait if you wish - Retina Mini when it comes out and lower cost solid state storage for the Retina laptops. Other platforms should be getting that super display quality too. The good thing about your iPad 2 is power to run most newer apps. Siri could be a reason for some.

Update: I'm reading a Kindle book w/iPad "4" in light and longer than would be good with my iPad 2 even though I'd use it for long periods. That's in our sun room, bright light.
I can't say if its worth it for you but the "Retina" aspect makes the iPad MUCH better for lots of reading.
Don't forget the new cable type if you have lots of peripherals. There was no "Lightening" cable the last time I checked Apogee's site.

There are also two hardware revs of the iPad 2. I have the older version, which has a bit worse battery and graphics performance. I think I might start looking into bumping up to the retina iPad.

Oddly enough, my newly purchased MacBook Pro 13" (non-retina) just crapped out. It's a logicboard issue for sure. Won't boot via any device internal or external, and even recovery isn't an option. Tested a working set of memory and hard drives I had on hand. Same results.
Doesn't speak well to quality control. I'm a bit saddened that I'll have to warranty exchange or repair it so soon.

That's a bummer. The Apple quality is generally good but we administer all sorts of technology and see the warranty claims do happen. I don't know what resources are near you. Those near an Apple Store or qualified agent can usually get same and next day swaps and repairs. Shipping for a repair is probably not so fast. Good luck.

I've had nothing but good customer service from them even here over the years and there are retail stores here, so there's a good chance. I'll update the thread with status, just for giggles.
