What is the criteria for 'hate' - just using those terms? From what little I know about the gay community, I'm not sure 'queer' is a bad word. And, is using the term 'cripple' mean that people hate handicapped folks???
Interesting idea, to be sure, but I do have some reservations. And, surely there are folks on the left who tweet all kinds of derogatory things about the right. They probably couch their tweets in PC approved terms, so harder to track....

My guess was smaller towns would stand out with other terms too because I perceive a level of get along, tolerance or at least familiarity with diversity in more populated areas.
Otherwise I didn't ready too far into or or take as some sort of heavy research. That said I believe it was students who caught the Reinhart and Rogoff spreadsheet errors.
